NJ Green Hotels is a list of environmentally-preferable hotels in New Jersey. Each hotel has ratings generated by a variety of certification programs including the following:
TripAdvisor’s Greenleaders Program showcases hotels and properties that have a commitment to sustainability by engaging in practices like recycling, composting, and providing electric car charging stations. Properties must apply to the program, and may be awarded a status of Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum
Expedia has partnered with the nonprofit Sustainable Travel International to compile a list of hotels and tourism companies that implement green practices. These properties are awarded the label of Green/Sustainable Property if they strive toward sustainability in the categories of environmental protection, socio-cultural responsibility, and local economic growth.
Green Key Global evaluates and certifies properties based on their commitment to improving their environmental and fiscal performance. Using a self-assessment, the Green Key Eco-Rating Program awards a rating from 1 to 5 keys. Sustainable practices can include energy or water conservation, indoor air quality, land use, and others.
EnvironmentallyFriendlyHotels.com is a database and search engine of sustainable hotels throughout the world. The website ranks hotels based on how many green hotel attributes or eco-friendly actions they take. Hotels must have at least 10 attributes out of a possible 30, and are awarded 1 to 7 ‘green leaves’ according to their achievements.
Finally, Audubon International evaluates lodging facilities that engage in environmental best practices and demonstrate a commitment to energy efficiency, resource and water conservation, and other environmental actions. Lodging facilities utilize a self-evaluation, are assessed by Audubon International staff, verified by an independent company, and are awarded an eco-rating as a certified green lodging facility.
