American Hotel & Lodging Association is the sole national association representing all sectors and stakeholders in the lodging industry. The association’s initial allegiance to the environment began in 1996, with the formation of Good Earthkeeping, a program to encourage linen and towel reuse for hotel guests. NJ Board of Public Utilities

The Board of Public Utilities (“Board”) is the state agency with authority to oversee the regulated utilities, which in turn provide critical services such as natural gas, electricity, water, telecommunications and cable television. The law requires the Board to ensure safe, adequate, and proper utility services at reasonable rates for customers in New Jersey. The BPU also houses the NJ Clean Energy Program, a statewide program that offers financial incentives, programs and services for New Jersey residents, business owners and local governments to help them save energy, money and the environment.

NJ Department of Environmental Protection Air Quality, Energy and Sustainability (AQES)

AQES includes the DEP’s voice for sustainability–the practical approach of balancing environmental stewardship, economic growth and social equity–in order to build New Jersey’s economy in a responsible and sustaining manner.

NJ State Employment & Training Commission

The mission of the Commission is to improve the skills of New Jersey’s workforce by creating a coherent, integrated system of employment and training programs and services which, in concert with the efforts of the private sector, will provide each citizen of the State with equal access to the learning opportunities needed to attain and maintain high levels of productivity and earning power.

NJ Travel Industry Association

The New Jersey Travel and Tourism Association (NJTIA) is a 501 c 6 non-profit trade organization.  Its members include every aspect of the $38 billion State tourism industry and are a representative body of organizations that promote and serve the individual aspects of that industry. NJTIA advocates for enhanced government support for Tourism in the State by educating our elected and appointed officials on the industry, its economic benefit  to the State and the role that those employed by and for the industry add to the quality of life for every citizen of NJ.

Somerset County Business Partnership

The Somerset County Business Partnership is the essential partner for doing business in Somerset County.  We believe in the power of a partnership between the private, public, and non-profit sectors speaking with a united voice to advance a strategic agenda. We remain committed to achieving the goal of economic vitality in Somerset County. As a chamber of commerce who values sustainability as an effective business model, the SCBP is planning programs to reward, promote and demonstrate the creative ways Somerset County businesses are making their companies more “green”.

Sustainable Business Initiative

The SBI is an initiative of the NJ Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Energy and Sustainability (BES).  The program’s vision is to raise awareness, educate and motivate companies to pursue sustainability as a competitive business strategy and a shared community responsibility, and account for its performance in terms of the triple bottom line.

This Sustainable Business Initiative has two primary goals:

  • To promote sustainability planning and practices among New Jersey businesses to enhance economic success, environmental protection, and an improved quality of life.
  • To identify and share resources to educate and encourage the NJ business community on the sustainable return on investment (SROI). SROI determines the full value of a project by assigning monetary values to all costs and benefits – economic, social and environmental.

US Green Building Council – New Jersey Chapter (USGBC NJ)

USGBC NJ is a non-profit organization focused solely on advancing green building and sustainable communities. The mission of USGBC NJ is to transform NJ’s built environment to become ecologically sustainable, profitable, and healthy. We accomplish our mission through education, advocacy, and collaboration. As New Jersey’s green building advocate and education resource, USGBC NJ provides over 150 educational programs, events, green building tours, research studies, and advocacy initiatives each year, through its three-branch, state-wide network.

For over 10 years USGBC NJ has served as the meeting ground, catalyst, and propeller for sustainability-minded individuals in building-related professions. Through the NJ Chapter, LEED and green building in general, have found fertile ground in New Jersey. The New Jersey Chapter’s 1,100+ individual members represent the entire spectrum of New Jersey’s green building community.
